As most folks who visit Jackson Hole know, we have two amazing ski resorts located right here in the valley. Snow King Mountain is at the edge of the town of Jackson, just minutes from Inn on the Creek. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is about a 25 minute drive or bus ride from the town of Jackson. Everyone knows how fun a ski resort can be in the winter, but have you ever had some summer fun at one? We have a few Jackson Hole summer activities recommendations for how to spend the warmer months at these resorts!
Snow King Mountain has everything a family could want for a day’s worth of fun outside. They have a variety of activities for all ages and interests. If you’re looking for something mellow to take in the sights and stretch your legs, a ride up the scenic chairlift and a short hike are right up your alley. The chairlift offers panoramic views of the town of Jackson with the Teton Range and Jackson Hole in the distance. You can stay on the chair and ride it right back down. Also, you can hike around the trails at the top of the mountain for a little before your return trip.
One of the most thrilling activities at Snow King is the Cowboy Coaster. You board your cart, which is open on the sides and holds up to two people. A cable then pulls you to the top of the ride, similar to a traditional roller coaster. When you reach the top, you push forward on the hand brakes to release them and go! Enjoy amazing views as you zoom down the winding track.
There are numerous other activities available at Snow King, including an Alpine Slide, a Treetop Adventure ropes course (which has a rather challenging “black diamond” course for adults), and paraglidng from the top of Snow King for those adventurous types. There is also mini golf, a bungee trampoline, and a new Amaze’n Maze. You can purchase a Big King Pass for each person in your party. This pass includes one tour on the Treetop Adventure and unlimited rides on every other activity they offer that is open that day.
In the summer, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort offers more than just a ride to the top of Rendezvous Mountain on their iconic Tram. Their newest addition is Via Ferrata. This alpine adventure is a system of cables, bridges, and ladders that allow you to explore the rocky upper part of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. You are tethered to cables along the route, which your guide will lead you through. Mountain biking is another popular pastime at JHMR during the summer months. They have a system of trails with difficulty levels for every rider. You access these trails by loading your bike onto the chair lift, and hopping on the next chair for a quick ride to downhill mountain biking fun. If you don’t have your bike and pads, no problem. Jackson Hole Sports has everything you will need for rent.
Other mellow activities offered by Jackson Hole Mountain Resort are scenic Tram and Gondola rides, and a full disc golf course. If you’re looking to get your heart racing, the Grand Adventure Park ropes course and bungee trampoline are great options. After all of the fun you have out in Teton Village, there are numerous happy hour and dining options to take advantage of there.
