Jackson Hole Activities: Turpin Meadows XC Ski

Spending a sunny day on skinny skis; enjoying Teton views while getting a fun workout; devouring a delicious, well-earned lunch with friends — these are some of our favorite Jackson Hole activities, and winter is a great time to experience them all.

Last weekend, Inn on the Creek’s Chef Sarah visited Turpin Meadows Ranch for a day on their Nordic ski trails. The weather was warm, the snow abundant, and the trails well-maintained. A $15 trail pass provides all-day access. It’s great fun, with a nice variety of mellow flats and heart-pumping hills. The view is killer, too!

There are 15k of groomed trails and a nice variety of terrain.

The historic ranch is located a beautiful hour’s drive from the Inn on the Creek. Cruising through Grand Teton National Park on a sunny winter day is another of our favorite Jackson Hole activities. That scenery never gets old, and there’s always a chance to catch some wildlife or a nice sunrise or sunset en route.

After working up an appetite exploring the many different trails, the recently remodeled main lodge is a great place to grab a bite to eat. The lunch menu is small but quite good. Our group tried the burger, the brat, and a really fresh salad topped with grilled chicken. The dining room is bright and comfortable, with a separate bar area in the back. There is a nice sitting area with a fireplace and plenty of reading material to peruse if you need a rest to digest after the meal.

XC skis lined up outside the lodge, where the dining room, bar and lounge are located.

Cross-country skiing is such a wonderful way to experience the peace and beauty of the area. For more information about where your skinny skis can take you, check out our older blog post about this popular Jackson Hole activity here or the communtiy web site JHNordic.com. We look forward to hosting you here at Inn on the Creek during you next Nordic ski adventure!
