Old West Days and ElkFest are the first big events of the summer season here in Jackson. From May 18 through the 27th, we bring a bit of the classic West out into the sunshine .  ElkFest begins the 10 day celebration of Old West Days.  The Boy Scouts of Jackson Hole collect the elk antlers from the National Elk Refuge in the Springtime, they are weighed, bundled and auctioned off.  In addition to the auction, there are several private vendors that have deer, elk and moose antlers for sale.  There are food stands around Town Square, so grab a bite and browse!

Throughout Old West Days, the Mountain Man Rendezvous and Trader Row is set up just south of town in the County Fairgrounds.   Vendors set up tent to sell pottery, handcrafted knives to wooden flutes and buckskin bags.  Mountain Man Rendezvous runs all 10 days of Old West Days

Come hungry on May 19th for the High Noon Chili Cook-Off. Professional cooks and amateurs come together to put on a feed while competing for who has the best chili in town!

On Saturday, May 26 the annual Brewfest takes place! Dozens of local and regional brewers come together in the Town Square to share their creations and to compete for the famous Golden Boot trophy.  Set up next to Town Square, a large tent is in place where all the brewers pour their draughts and you can enjoy quite the sampling.

Old West Days is the start of all things Summer in Jackson, so check out the live music, the parade, the rodeo, stagecoach rides, the Bar J Chuckwagon and so much more.  So grab your cowboy boots and hat and come experience the Old West!

When planning your Jackson Hole Wyoming vacation, a highlight not to be missed is our wonderful art scene. Would you believe that our little town of Jackson Hole is home to nearly 50 art galleries!   Well, you better believe it.  The best part is that each gallery is so unique; you will never tire of all the stunning pieces of artwork each gallery has to offer.

One of our favorite evening recommendations at Inn on the Creek is an evening gallery walk. Many of the galleries keep their doors open through the evening and offer wine and hors d’oeurvres as you stroll along and take in the art of local and renowned artists from all over.

Folks visit art galleries during our Fall Arts Festival

Don’t assume that our Cowboy State will only feature paintings and sculptures of cowboys, Native American Indians and Rodeo Broncs.  (Well, of course, we do). In addition to all that western fun, our galleries feature works from Claude Monet, Andy Warhol, Carl Rungius, Fredric Remington, Georgia O’Keeffe. And our favorite guests here at the Inn on the Creek; Paul Vilinski and Joshua Tobey. Some galleries display exclusive pieces that tell the story for wildlife and land conservationists and some of the newest modern techniques and spectacular jewelry designers, such as; Lucifer Vir Honestus.

Being in Wyoming, don’t be surprised when you walk into a gallery and you are met with a real live bird of prey from our Teton Raptor center, which is just how we roll in the Wild West.

In addition to being surrounded by natural beauty, we are grateful to be able to enjoy some of the finest art work in the country.

Inn on the Creek, a Jackson Hole Bed and Breakfast, happily welcomed a new member to the team this winter! A long-time Jackson resident, Kelly hit the ground running. She is thrilled to share a glimpse into her day-to-day at the Inn. Please read on to experience a day in the life of the new gal!

Kelly's duck buddies

Kelly’s enjoyed meeting all the Inn on the Creek guests this winter. These two visitors have become her two favorite spring guests. Kelly dubbed them Archie and Edith.

Being a part of the team at the Inn on the Creek, our amazing Jackson Hole Bed and Breakfast, for just one winter season has made me really appreciate where I live and I realize how much I love sharing my knowledge of our valley that lies in the shadow of the Teton Range. Every morning, I get to prepare a breakfast of champions as folks are getting geared up for their day in our winter wonderland. I have had the pleasure to meet the most wonderful people from all over the world.  Many different activities attract our guests to this area. Some to ski one of the most renown ski resorts in the country. Or they come here to fulfil their bucket list of a snowmobile trip to Old Faithful in Yellowstone National Park. Others come to cross-country ski and snowshoe in the Grand Teton National Park. Some folks just come up to spend the weekend with us from surrounding states and towns to enjoy some of Jackson Hole’s fine restaurants, relax in our cozy rooms and enjoy the warm hospitality they receive the moment they walk into this Jackson Hole Bed and Breakfast. One of my favorite things about my job is greeting our guests at our evening social hour and listening to them compare their day’s adventures with one another.

As I reflect on my winter season, I cannot help but get excited about the summer season to come. I am already working on new summer recipes and soon we will get the garden started (maybe not that soon).  Already we are getting out and playing in our beautiful valley.

There are so many activities to enjoy outdoors from a leisure hike in the Grand Tetons, Yellowstone tours, camping, biking and eating your way around Town Square! The summer adventures that our guests will embark on are unlimited!

Come on out and visit us this summer and get away at our beautiful Jackson Hole Bed and Breakfast. I will be waiting to greet you with some new fabulous summer breakfast dishes!

Visit Jackson Hole- as told by an Inn on the Creek guest.

One of our favorite things about Inn on the Creek is all the great return guests we get. It’s fun to catch up on how things have been and what they are excited to try on this visit to Jackson Hole. A few weeks ago we had one such return couple and in the year since they last visisted, Beckie, has started a blog. We swapped tips on what we do for ours and how she finds stories for hers. Travel is one such component of her blog and Jackson was featured upon their return. We wanted to share it with you, so you can hear from a guest’s perspective of why to visit Jackson Hole.

Excerpt from the blog Paper Parasols:

Jackson Hole Winter Vacation. No We Don’t Ski.

Jackson Hole Airport has to be one of the most beautiful airports in the world. It literally nestles up to the Grand Tetons so you fly right into the base of these grand mountains. If you are lucky you’ll approach from the north and get an up close view of the peaks which stand 7,000 feet above the airport. This year the weather forecast was cloudy with light snow for the first days of our vacation. We knew there wouldn’t be much opportunity to see the Tetons until later in the week so we anxiously awaited our approach. We were delighted with the view out the right wing. Welcome back to Jackson Hole! That first magical moment of seeing the Grand Tetons cannot be recaptured but the majesty and grandeur will never cease to overcome me each time I see them.

I love to travel and always want to make the most of my time. I don’t often repeat trips for this very reason. There is so much to see in this world and so little time to get it all in but there are just some places that demand a sequel. In preparing for my trips I use Trip Advisor, Yelp and search for  the “best of”.  I also use my friends.  Buying coffee or lunch for a friend and getting the scoop on the towns and cities I’m visiting is always on my “to do ” list before departure.  My husband, Mark, loves to watch Dives, Dinners and Drive-Ins so if he is along then that’s a must do!  This visit to Jackson Hole we wanted to make sure we didn’t repeat what we did in 2014 so in planning we thought about what we really enjoyed doing on our last visit and tried to build on it.  Our priorities this trip were to snowmobile to the Yellowstone Grand Canyon, dogsled in the Hoback area, hike, and utilize our rental car to see more wildlife. This was my Christmas present so I also had a secret agenda to find a fox fur hat to match my gloves from last year.   My search for “the best of” yielded Cowboy Coffee, the potpie from Sidewinders (Triple D of course!), the restaurant Lotus, an evening sleigh ride at Spring Creek Ranch  with  dinner at The Granary,  dog sledding at JH Iditarod Sled Dog Tours and snowshoe rental atSkinny Skis. With a plan in place we were set for Jackson Hole the Sequel… read the rest of the post and see Beckie’s great pictures

A favorite winter activity of many visitors and guests of Inn on the Creek is a Yellowstone snowmobile trip. A majestic place anytime of year, Yellowstone is truely unique in the winter. Geyesers erupt into freezing air, creating beautiful ice crystals and frost on near by plants, trees, even bison! The only access is by snowmobile or snowcoach, so there are very few people in the park on any given day.

Hailey and Nate of Inn on the Creek were able to experience a Yellowstone snowmobile, what so many guests rave about, this winter and brought back some great photos to share! Starting at -15 degrees, the morning was chilly but with the sun out, temps rose to 20 degrees by mid day. They said they were bundled enough to ignore the cold and enjoy the views, quiet, and peace of Yellowstone in Winter.

It’s a full day- being picked up at the Inn on the Creek at 6:30am by Chris with Scenic Safaris, the drive to Flagg Ranch was beautiful and clear- the sun just starting to shine on the Tetons. A big breakfast awaited guests at Flagg Ranch to fuel us for the morning. After a quick lesson on the brand new snowmobiles, we were off! The whole trip is about 90 miles on the snowmobile and gets you back to Inn on the Creek around 5pm. We stopped at some favorites including West Thumb, Old Faithful, Biscuit Basin, Shoshone Lake lookout, Kepler Cascades, and Lewis Falls. Lunch was hosted at Old Faithful in warming yurts- sandwiches, hot soup, coffee, hot chocolate, tea, and giant cookies did the trick! Check out some of our photos below!
