What a terrific start to this year’s Jackson Hole Winter Season! It’s been loaded with snow, free ski days and fun. The Jackson Hole area received early snowfall this year and it keeps coming. Many area residents were out skiing the backcountry by the middle of November and getting rewarded with powder turns. Opening the day after Thanksgiving, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort kicked off 2013-2014 earlier than usual with over 6′ of fallen snow! Since opening day, mother nature has brought continued snowfall and cold temperatures.
It’s hard to improve upon a day of skiing, but this year we discovered how- free skiing! Both Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) and Snow King Mountain offered free skiing to start their winter season. After receiving the title of best mountain resort in North America from Ski Magazine, JHMR decided to offer a free day of skiing, local music and swag to celebrate. Folks came from far and wide to join in the celebration. Snow King offered their free ski day in honor of their 75th year of operations.
The King was skiing great for the locals and vacationers, alike. Snake River Brewery brewed a beer, Snow King Pale Ale, in honor of this great occasion, which was also free. With the great early season snowfall and free ski days, it was hard not to have fun.
