Ecotourism in Jackson Hole- Green Energy

In 2015, the Inn committed to buying 100% Green Energy from Lower Valley Energy. Just another reason the Inn on the Creek is your place when looking for ecotourism in Jackson Hole. We are excited to make the switch to green energy that is better for the environment and a more sustainable choice. The source of this green energy are wind farms just across the state line in southeast Idaho.

As part of this commitment, the Inn was selected as a showcase property for the Green Energy and High Efficiency lightening program. This program selected a small business in Jackson to feature as an example of the benefits high efficiency lighting offer through new, innovative LED technology. By capitalizing on more efficient technology to reduce our energy consumption, the Inn is able to off-set the increased cost of buying Green Energy.

The energy used to light a lodging property can be a substantial amount of its overall energy usage. At the Inn on the Creek, lighting alone accounts for up to 40% of our energy usage. Lower Valley Energy provided brand new LED high efficiency light bulbs to replace our out-of-date, inefficient bulbs. This new technology uses 10.5 watts of energy to provide the same lighting a traditional incandescent 60 watt light bulb would. We should see a drop in our energy usage by 40%! The life span of one of these bulbs is 15,000 light hours or an estimated 7 years versus 1,500 light hours for an incandescent bulb. This will greatly reduce the number of bulbs we pass on to the waste stream.
